Mickleton in Bloom

Working together for the future of our village

Open Meeting

Tuesday, 17 April at 2.30 pm

Thank you to those of you who attended our open meeting. We hope you found it interesting and that you added your name to the list of volunteers to help us in our endeavours.

It is now June and our work really begins. The judging for the Calor Competition and Bledisloe Cup will take place in June, July, and August. The judges will be looking for neat and tidy gardens, clean, litter free streets, pavements and alleys. Clean street signs, tidy grass verges, weed free public areas and a clean sparkling telephone kiosk. They will also inspect the Junior Playing Field, so to all who use the field we ask that you put your rubbish in the bins provided or take it home with you.

Ignorant, irresponsible and selfish individuals who walk their dog(s) in the village and fail to clean up after them cause a major problem in Mickleton. This kind of behaviour is not acceptable and is also a health hazard. If you see this happen you can report it anonymously to the Dog Warden at Cotswold District Council. Any person who can be identified for allowing their dog(s) to foul any part of the village will be prosecuted.

Can we ask you all to help us by making a determined effort to keep Mickleton clean and tidy not only for the next three months but also throughout the year? During April/May some Parish Councillors were involved in the Annual Village Clean-up organised by C.D.C. We hope they will continue the good work.

Please register your name on the rota if you are prepared to cut the grass at the village hail. We are using an electric rotary mower.

Finally if you see a couple of strangers in the village, walking round and carrying clip boards, they could be some of the judges so please speak to them and make them feel welcome.
