POEM FROM THE COUNTRYMAN

Our village is amazing cos so much is going on,

It blossoms in so many ways, foundations built upon;

Foundations are the fertile minds, at work collectively,

Where ‘seeds’ of innovation germinate extensively.

Extensive ‘cultivation’ means we weed out what is not

Conducive to a happy state and thus enhance our ‘lot’;

A lot of folk in different ways join ranks to swell the crowd,

And thus give credence to our claim, of which we are so proud!

Now, pride in humble essence can a motivator be,

It’s found within our village and is there for all to see;

Not only can our village be a joy to meet the eye,

The spirit of community brings thought to passers by!

Those passing by will gather from our village notice boards,

That many things are taking place, which everyone affords;

For ‘time’ is freely given as we volunteer our aid,

And through this kind philosophy, no one is ever paid!

Why pay, when you can have for free, ‘time’ that’s freely given,

And thus create a sense of worth applicable to heav’n;

Heaven is a state of mind where happiness counts far more,

Reciprocating favours is the ‘key’ to heaven’s door.

The door is ever open to a fertile, open mind,

Come, join with us in Mickleton and surely you will find

The ‘seeds’ of hope for you to ‘plant’ in your community,

Which, given time to ‘germinate’, will aid prosperity!

Prosperity in social terms, will pave the way my friend,

Initially it may be hard, you’ll get there in the end;

So, come on board in Mickleton, you’ll find there’s always room,

And savour all we have to give, cos Mickleton’s in Bloom!
