Mickleton in Bloom

Working together for the future of our village

  Judging Day

Monday, 21st April was a great day for Mickleton. The Village Exhibition was very well received by the Judges; two words used many times were “vibrant” and “enthusiasm”. They were impressed with the variety of exhibits and “the community atmosphere” as they toured the 57 different displays in the Hall.

We now have to wait until 2nd December before any results are announced. There may be a second round of judging in July, but this is not always a part of the process, as the competition does not have a “knock-out” stage, all entries are assessed together. A second visit would be for clarification of a specific aspect and we would be aware of the purpose of the visit.

The evening event was a tremendous success. It was impossible to get an accurate figure regarding attendance, but possibly over 200 people looked at the exhibits.

There has already been some feed back regarding “recruitment” – a bell ringer, two Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators, two Appalachian Step Dancers, one Hedgehog driver, 3 Mickleton Society members, 3 Line dancers, 6 gardening Club members…… Any information on this aspect would be extremely welcome as it can be used in the entry for the Gloucester Village of the Year 2008 Competition, which will be judged in May/June.
